Overall it was a good experience, but if you are willing to pay $4 for each glass of pop then go for it. That is a complete rip off, as it can get quite costly. Another rip off is a Tourist Tax they charge for the Niagara Region. DO NOT PAY THIS, as them to take it off your bill, it is not mandatory to pay it. If Niagara Falls is lacking tourist money, suggest they do more creative ideas of raising money then passing it along to patrons of restaurants hoping that they will not notice the tax and not question it. Either then that it was a quite enjoyable meal.
We were greeted at the door by a charming hostess who sat us down immediately. The waitress came to our table after a few ticks of the clock and explained politely the procedure. The salad bar was exquisite and abundant with various delicious items. Throughout our meal the waiters didn't stop approaching and offering all the delicious meats that the Copacabana is famous for. A truly wonderful experience was had by us and I strongly recommend this fine restaurant to anyone who wants an enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings and professional service!
We had made reservations weeks in advance and they gave us the pager and told us to wait in the bar, even though we were there for the first sitting and almost all the tables were emtpy. We waited about 10 minutes past the reservation time, and went back up to check with the hostess when we saw other parties being seated. Then they seated us right awas -- I had the feeling that if we had patiently waited for the pager, we would never have been seated. The meal was definitely not worth the $45 +++ per person they charge for the appy buffet and "endless" meat. Sure the guys are hunky, but the show lasted 10 minutes tops, and the poor girls have to change in the handicapped cubicle in the washroom! I'm not much of a meat eater, and nobody told me I could get just the buffet, which I would have done. It was quite good, the fried bread and dips especially nice. Not all the meat that was on the list ever made it to our table, and other meats came several times. Basically a tourist trap.
I have been to the Copa before so knew what to expect. I recommended this as a location for our office party and based on that, 15 of us, including my boss made the trip to the Falls. The salad bar had a decent variety of hot and cold sides. The fried bread with spicy dip is very good. Plates of fried bananas and fresh corn bread were delivered to our table and were a big hit. My only fault with the experience was the meat -- way way to salty. I like salt. I put salt on everything from pizza to popcorn. If you cant see the salt, its not enough. Yet I found this to be too much. At first the gauchos were very attentive, but seemed to lose interest in us quickly. Some meats only came around once and some not at all. The cheap chicken legs came around 5 times though. At $30+ a plate, I expect to see the beef and lamb, not drumsticks. Even with our cards faced up for more meat, the gauchos decided we were done and just stopped coming. I agree with other reviews -$4 a soda is insane. If they gave free refills I wouldnt mind so much but this is crazy. The owner is driving around in a porsche for heaven's sakes. Throw us a bone! There is limited parking in back. Do not worry about paying the meter, we have been told each time we go not to bother by the hostess. The meter is there to discourage non-patrons from using the lot. Previous experiences were much better, so I am hoping our next visit is better or we may not be back.
I brought a group of 70 people into the restaurant. We were seated immediately. Food was plentiful and excellent. Staff, dancers and music were great. My group thoroughly enjoyed the casual and fun atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone.
