We dine at Sushi Tei and take out from there quite often...favourite place for sushi and sashimi as it is reasonably priced and fresh. We've been to a number of Japanese restaurants and Sushi Tei ranks as our favourite. Get there early as it gets busy and the wait can be a while. Service can be slow as they are often busy. If you have babies/young children and venture out for dinner a lot like we do - it's best to go during the weekday and early evening...
I don't know how anyone can say the service is slow. It used to be lightning speed, to the point that there were complaints about how brisk the waitresses were. In any case there's new ownership as of December 1, 2006. The service is much friendlier (if a tad bit slower, but it's still extremely fast) and more importantly the food quality is markedly higher than it was before. I hope it stays this way. Love this place.
I've visited sushi tei many times, and I quite enjoy the Ebi Fry, the sashimi and the donburi is also very good. I find the sushi is very high quality, well as high as you can get in Canada anyway, and the meal presentation is very nice. The service is fairly good as well, as well as the atmosphere, but of course, and more importantly, the food is delicious.
