Love it there!! Great waitresses Big thumbs up
I have been to this restaurant many times and have never had a problem. Today was no exception. The breakfast was great and the portions were perfect. Our server, Sandy, was very busy but did an amazing job. Thank you, Sandy. And thank to the people who work in jobs like this.
This was my second time visiting. I don't recall much about my first visit, aside from the lingering impression that I was less than impressed. I chose to stop in for breakfast on Saturday morning as I had time before I needed to be at work. I arrived around 9:30 am. From the number of cars in the parking lot it looked busy inside, but I knew from previous experience that seating was plentiful. When I came through the door and approached the area to wait to be seated there was no one there. No customers or staff. I could see a group of about a half dozen staff in a semi-circle having a conversation towards the back of the restaurant. I waited a couple of minutes, as I know that they could see me because a couple of people were looking right at me. The phone had begun to ring and an older gentleman came to the front finally, probably 3-4 minutes since I had walked in the door. He said something I had trouble hearing over the sound of a busy restaurant. I assumed that he was asking me how many people so indicated that is was just me. He pointed to the single booths and waved me over there as he answered the phone. I seated myself and noted that I had no menus or cutlery. After waiting another minute or two, and watching the gentleman seat a couple that had come through the door after me, taking with him menus and rolled cutlery. After waiting a few more minutes I decided to help myself to a menu. It took another few minutes after that when the server arrived and I was able to order coffee and my meal. She was very pleasant and congenial, but I could tell that she was also somewhat harried due to being busy. I must admit I do like that the coffee is served in a small carafe, as I do like to have a couple of cups with my meal. I ordered the two eggs, bacon and home fries. I prefer my eggs poached and was pleased when the server asked how I liked them, soft, hard etc. I ordered them soft. I waited I believe about 15 minutes before my meal arrived. I understood why it took so long as pretty much everything was overcooked. My eggs were poached hard, and the bacon was so crisp that it was just shy of being burnt. By this time however I could see that my waitress was in the midst of taking care of a very large table. I decided that since it had taken so long to come out in the first place, that I wouldn't have time to send it back, and get something fresh, and make it to work for 11. I chose to eat my meal, and it was edible but really the quality just wasn't there. The home fries were also over cooked, and the flavour was somewhat off. Almost as if the potatoes were not cleaned properly before cleaning. My server did check in on me, and asked how everything was. I will admit that I really didn't want to get into anything with her by complaining, as I just wanted to eat and get out of there, by that point. I did reply, somewhat dejectedly that my meal was "ok" when she asked. I know I am not alone, as a customer, when it comes to not complaining at the time of service. Had I had more time I probably would have sent my meal back, but like I said, I was running out of time and could tell that it would be a while for a new meal, from the number of people who were ordering at the large table. Perhaps I'm a coward. However, all business owners should be aware that it's the customers that come in, and are met with mediocrity or less, and don't complain, but just never return, who cost them the most. I may or may not return, as the location is convenient to my work, and the prices are ok. However, I would never recommend the restaurant for quality food, or service (not the server but the person who met me at the door).
You'll probably notice my previous review below. Breakfast special at $4.99. It's now $5.49, but you get less! Well, not too much less. Previously, you got three sausages, now two. Also, I think we got less homefries. Even with that change, I still like it, especially when it includes coffee. So, I'm really not complaining and, anyway, I shouldn't be eating three sausages!
My husband and I are always looking for good places to eat breakfast on the weekend and decided to give Apple Annie’s a try after reading some reviews on the Restaurantica website. We got to the restaurant at 9:00 am and we were quickly seated to a table. Unfortunately, we didn’t get there early enough to get a booth; but, there were a few choices for tables. Our first impressions were that the restaurant was quite sizeable, tastefully decorated and clean. It had a look similar to a chain restaurant; televisions and all, making it suitable for any meal. The waitress came over quickly and asked if we wanted some coffee and returned with our own personal carafe of coffee and our menus. The personal carafes were a big plus for us! We didn’t see or hear about any breakfast specials so we ordered from their expansive menu. We decided on a french toast platter for my husband and the mini potato pancakes with a side of smoked back bacon for me. Soon after, our food was brought out. The portions were large and the food was hot. My husband loved his food, especially the french toast. Everything was cooked just the way he likes it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my order because I expected the potato pancakes to be like potato latkes; instead they were hash brown cakes, something you would typically get at McDonald’s. They were hot and cooked right; but, just not what I wanted. On a positive note, the smoked back bacon was delicious and cooked perfectly. The service overall was good. The waitress checked-in on us to ensure everything was okay and the owner stopped by to ask if everything was good. The owner was definitely attentive; he asked if everything was okay with my potato cakes; since, I only ate 3 or 4 from the plate of 12. I didn’t complain about the potato cakes. I just chalked it up to a misunderstanding. I was surprised to be offered a doggie bag for my breakfast when we were ready to go. It’s not something you see often for breakfast; but, hey if I liked it why not take it home? The only thing that I can think of where the service was lacking was the time it took to get change from our bill. I am not sure if our waitress went for her break and didn’t tell anyone; but, regardless it was a little long for our liking. Now the big question, will we go back? I think we will definitely give this place another try before any final judgement is passed. This time we will make breakfast reservations in order to get that booth!
Have been coming here for a while, and came upon this site that slams this store. I have never been served a bad meal here since i started coming 3 years ago. Service is always good, place is always clean, food is always great. I have worked in the service industry for years and seem some pretty maliscous things said and done to an establishment by people, especially disgruntled employees. Seems to me this place hasn't been treated fairly. Disgruntled employee..... FIND SOMETHING BETTER TO DO
Love the ribs. You all have to try the ribs. Best in the city Me and my wife bring people here all the time. Sure they have a great breakfast and lunch, but dinner where its at. Never had a bad meal here or bad service. Place is great. Try it out..
We heard about this place and had to check it out. The waitress (Rachael) was very prompt and friendly. The food portions were large and hard to finish and very good. The atmosphere was very nice. Definitely worth going back to. Not sure why others complained about the atmosphere. We think it looks great. I guess some people aren't happy unless they are complaining. I know people who live for that. They're so negative if you put them in a darkroom they might develop. We will definitely go back.
My wife and I have been searching for a good breakfast place in Burlington and we now have found it. Been here many times in the past 6 month and love it. When ever we have guests stay over, we always take them here for breakfast without complaints. I haven't had a bad meal yet. The atmospere is cozy and warm and the wait staff is great. Even with a Cora's at our door step, I'd never think twice about the extra distance to have my morning breakfast at Apple Annies.
A great find! Excellent breakfast, fast service, good portions. The place was very busy and yet was laid out in such a way that felt very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast menu was extensive with all sorts of choices for varying appetites, with many options for healthier low fat meals. Home-fries were light and crispy and complemented the meals well.
TRY THE EGGS BENEDICT!!!!! You will fall in love. Spectacular food, service, and kind waiting staff. Best restaurant hands down.
We took my Aunt and Uncle here for dinner to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. They chose this location as their first choice. The service was very good and the waitress very attentive, even to the point of looking up how to make my uncle's favorite drink (Planter's Punch) and taking a photo for us. The food was excellent and the Peppercorn steak I had was the best in a long time. Kudos to the chef and the waitress (unfortunately I didn't get her name). Definitely will be back on my next visit to Burlington. This place beats out all the other pretentious, overpriced places in this area
My bf and I stopped in one morning for breakfast around 9am on a Saturday. I was surprised that it wasn't busy at all. Prices are very reasonable and portions are great. My strawberry waffles were delicious. They have a large selection of choices for breakfast. Overall a nice affordable place that I wouldn't mind stopping by again, maybe this time to check out their dinner menu.
Omg my dinner was AMAZING!! A small group of us decided to hit up "the Apple" as we call it for dinner. We have been familiar of there great egg's benni for breakfast & thought, why not try it out for dinner.. Okay, all of our meals looked great, but MINE .. WOW.. PEOPLE ORDER THE "STEAK NEPTUNE"!!! Those that are familiar with the Keg's "Sirloin Oscar" .. THIS BLOWS IT OUT OF THE WATER.. WOW. that's it that's all, am a happy camper THANNNNKS!! : )
The breakfast special is excellently priced. We always enjoy the food and like the fact that we get our own carafe of coffee and tea. The waitresses and owner are extremely friendly and make the experience of eating there even more enjoyable. It is a great place to go for breakfast during the week.
Charged $1.50 for a cup of hot water. Terrible service.
took my girl for dinner and had a great time! cozy and warm feeling when we walked in and a very friendly staff. the food was to die for. thank you for a great evening, we'll be back!!!
This restaurant gets better every time we visit. Is now the best breakfast place in town. Avoid weekend line-ups by arriving before 9:30. Great food and service; ample parking and lots of elbow room inside the restaurant, unlike Russell Williams.
My husband and I stopped there for lunch with our two preschoolers. We ordered a milk and apple juice for our kids. They came right away, but they were served with no lids and short little straight straws. I asked the server if they had covers or if they had straws that bent so that the kids would not spill them, but they didn't. I know it is a detail, but for a family restaurant, you have o think about all members of the family! The Restaurant was fairly empty for a Sat, but the service was poor. The server forgot half my meal and I even had to ask for cutlery! When our server finally came over after I got her attention, she said, oh did you seat yourself?....like she wanted to pass the blame that there was no cutlery. And no, we had not seated ourselves. The food was mediocre at best. Even the fries were underdone. How can you mess up fries? My 2 1/2 yr old who never refuses a french fry wouldn't even eat them! For the food we received, it was definitely overpriced. It bothers me that for a restaurant that charges 2.49 for a soft drink loaded with ice, they charge you for a refill. Obviously, not a restaurant that caters to the clients or wants repeat customers.
this was by far the best breakfast experience i've had in a long time!!! i heard about apple annie's standing in line at the bank one day and decided to give it a try. the pancakes were fluffy, the coffee came to the table in a carafe and my girlfriends french toast was incredible!!! the service was great!!! i'll be back!!!
