If you like rum and tapas, you'll love Barraca Rhumerie & Tapas. While sipping cocktails down south, François Forest and Danny Pyton began their love affair with southern-made rum. François had also travelled throughout Spain, sampling the local cuisine and discovering the centuries-old traditions of Spanish fare. Soon enough, an idea began to brew.
Back home in Montreal, they noticed that there weren't many places with a large selection of rum and were soon convinced that the area would welcome a comfortable place that served up southern cocktails and Spanish dishes. "We wanted to combine aspects of Spanish cuisine and tradition with the relaxed feeling of vacation cocktails," says François.
François and Danny were joined by friends Mathieu Aubin and Étienne Brabant, who ran successful bars in the city, and in July 2002, they opened Barraca Rhumerie & Tapas. Day one was a launch party for friends of the owners, and the rest is history. This lounge-style bar was an instant hit with young crowds looking for the ideal place for a drink, a date or a night out with friends.
La sangria au Rhum est excellente. C'étais la première fois que je buvais de la sangri avec du Rhum et non de la vodka. Un excellent mix et les tapaso sont très bons!
The staff members at the rum distillery of Mont-Royal Avenue hold the Movember cause close to their hearts, which is why they’re hosting a MoParty on November 29. On the menu: a close shave and photo shoots, all organized to raise donations. Throughout the month, the Barraca will donate one dollar from the sale of designated products.
Located in the heart of the Plateau, le Barraca offers a huge selection of rum and a simple yet effective tapas menu. It broadcasts games without the sound on, preferring the soundtrack laid down by the resident DJ's. This is the perfect place to bring a date and watch the game from the corner of your eye. ;)
Barraca is the place to go in the Plateau if you’re a fan of rum and finger foods, so it should be no surprise they serve a pretty wicked mojito. They serve over 50 different types of rum from various countries around the world so you can pick your favourite based on your mojito mood. Sip on delicious mojitos with friends on their stunning back terrace.
