I'm getting tired of trying the "Best Of" in this city, only to be subjected to abysmal service which would not cut it anywhere else. Granted, this was peak Sunday brunch, but all the servers were inattentive - punctuated only with rushed visits to our table on the off chance that we could flag someone down. Perhaps this isn't the type of place to have assigned 'sections', but I had the feeling that the staff were handing us off from one person to the next. They only refilled coffee when prompted; forgot to bring us a menu which probably worked out to our advantage as I wouldn't have wanted to place a second order and wait yet another 30 minutes for it to arrive. Someone else has already commented on the modest portions at not-so-modest prices, which - yeah. How terribly disappointing that $12 doesn't even get you an entire waffle. Could not even be bothered to tell a server about the stray hair in my coleslaw. I would still be waiting for them to do something about it.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! I've been here a few times and always look forward to going. The decor is unpretentious and the food is fabulous! The toast even tastes special :) They also serve an amazing apple coleslaw/salad which at first I was apprehensive about but when I tasted it, I fell in love! I highly recommend!
Upon the recommendation of friends, my friend and I went there for breakfast today. While the food is good (although petit portions and not so petit prices), the service is abyssmal. It's not the serving staff that's the problem, it's the kitchen staff. When served the wrong toast (I asked for white not brown) I asked my server to correct the order. I was then brought my new toast by an executive chef wannabe who unceremoniously "dropped" the plate on the table and stormed off. On his return pass by the table, he reached across me to snatch up the old toast (at the time being consumed by my friend), muttered something unintelligble and stormed back to the kitchen. When this was mentioned to our server, he said, "Oh the kitchen staff is a little tempermental. That's why we don't like them to come out front." And that is why I won't be back.
I absolutely loved the casual atmoshpere of this restaurant. Everyone at my table simply loved their meals, which were ready quickly. Our server was very friendly and was great at recommending things on the menu. I can't wait to go again!

Since 2003, Le Petit Dejeuner has been providing all-day breakfast to the Financial District. The bistro-style restaurant is family run, and focuses on Belgian-Canadian comfort food. The breakfast items are all made fresh to order and this includes some of the best Belgian waffles in the city. The classics, like eggs benny and crepes, are there too, plus the menu has seasonal options too.
