Get your warrior on in one of the most gorgeous yoga spaces in the city. This three-storey Victorian home by Rosedale Station has been refreshed into a white-washed, spa-like space with airy practice rooms, perfect for strengthening, lengthening and decompressing. Fans flock here for the high-calibre of instructors and the range of classes – from the slow and steady restorative and yin to the moving sequences in flow and core power flow. Other classes include Pilates, Stress Melt flow, pre- and post-natal, and yoga by candlelight. Smart tip: newcomers can try 40 days of unlimited classes for $80.
This yoga studio in Rosedale has its own shop that carries accessories like jewellery, baby products, gifts, yoga practice essentials, skincare, travel items, and more. They have the chemical-free Suntegrity SPF-30 moisturizing face sunscreen and primer, mineral body sunscreen, and natural-tinted face sunscreen. They also carry DeVita’s SPF-30 facial moisturizer that is 100 per cent vegan and is made with 19 per cent zinc oxide active ingredient. Tip: to relieve sun damage, use Pai’s rosehip oil under your sunscreen.
889 is housed in an 1800s Victorian that’s been revamped into a modern, luxurious and spa-like yoga studio that provides the perfect backdrop to get tranquil and go within. Several drop-in group meditation circles are offered throughout the week and each one lasts an hour. Don’t fear, you won’t be seated in silence with a numb foot the whole time. The hour is broken into smaller and more manageable components (it even includes a tea break). The circle is suitable for all levels, welcoming everyone from those with no meditation experience to hardcore yogis with a regular seated practice.
