My thought

I have been to Jack Astor's only a few times, and both times the service was great! The atmosphere was also great, very fun, and exciting. You get crayons to colour on the tables and there are funny quotes around the restaurant. My only problem is that when I ordered my food which was a very simple order, it was wrong. My caesar salad had carrots in it and no croutons! Although the food is great and mistakes are made, it is just inconvenient. Aside from the mistakes, it is a great place to go to just hang out with friends, and have a drink or 2. The servers and waitresses are very kind, and they are always on top of everything. The restaurant is also never a mess, I never seen anything even left on the tables when another customer leaves, they are on top of it all right away which is really good.

My boyfriend and I really like to eat at this Jack Astors. We eat here often, probably at least twice a month. The food is ALWAYS good. I find that sometimes it is a little too loud to eat and converse comfortably, but I think the great food makes up for that slight discomfort. The wait staff are usually very quick and efficient, although a couple times we have had a server who seemed not to like their job. The wait for our food after ordering is not usually long. Just once out of many times did we leave unhappy with the service. I order something new almost every time, so there are many different options. I would defiantly send my friends here to eat.

Like The Restaurant But BIG Prob With My Server

Normally I'm a fan of Jack Astor's but this one specific experience has tainted my opinion of the professionalism of the staff there. My boyfriend and I were out for dinner, got our seats and were approached by our server. She recognized me from the restaurant I worked at, and we made small talk about work - nothing special. To be honest, I didn't actually recognize her at all. I worked at a VERY busy restaurant and served hundreds of customers a week. Regardless, she was nice and brought us our drinks and then took our order. Our food was good and we had a good experience. At one point, my boyfriend noticed an old co-worker of his (from years prior) who was now working at Jack's and she was talking to our server. Didn't think anything of it but my boyfriend brought it up in a casual "oh, i used to work with one of the girls here" kind of way. Our server dropped off the bill and as we looked at it, we took note of our servers name, as it is a very uncommon name. We paid for the bill, gave our waitress a good tip (my bf tends to tip 20% -- awesome!) and went on our way. My issue came the next day, when my boyfriend picked me up and said "Oh your friend added me to facebook today." I asked who, and he replied "S*******, our server from yesterday." I was blown away, as I am a) not friends with her, and b) do not know this girl outside of restaurants. As soon as he found out that I don't actually know her, he deleted her off Facebook. I have been a server for a long time and I would NEVER add a customer to Facebook who I didn't know. HOW IS THIS PROFESSIONAL AT ALL?? It's obvious that she found out who he is through her co-worker, and then searched him on Facebook and tried to add him as a friend. This goes beyond any realm of professionalism. I don't know what Jack Astor's puts into their training methods, but I would assume "lurking customers online" is not part of their process. Overall I like the restaurant, but I cannot believe a member of their staff would believe this was an acceptable thing to do. We've been back since, but needless to say, we have not had her as a server and I'm very thankful for that.

You Call that a Steak!

Went in to restaurant without reservations and had a fifteen minute wait in the bar. We ordered a draft beer and a glass of house wine came to $17and change wow a bit pricey. We chose a table in the bar area that became available. I ordered a top sirloin steak and baked potato($19.87), and a calamari appetizer ($10.43). My wife ordered the sesame chicken($16.87). We also order another drink each. The calamari was so thinly sliced and heavily battered the meat was hard to find, below average compared to other restaurants. The menu does not list the size of the steaks they are serving. An attempt to mislead the consumer to the fact they serve puny little 8 oz steaks. I was shocked to see this tiny steak on my plate and asked the waitress is this a sampler? The baked potato side was twice as big as the main entree. the waitress said how proud they were of their large baked potatoes. I said if this were my restaurant I would be embarrassed to serve a steak that was half the size of the baked potato. I will however say that the steak was cooked perfectly to my liking of medium rare and flavorful but was barely warm when served. The steak was advertised in the menu as AAA grade beef I found hard to believe as it was very sinewy and tough to chew. The steak was cut into 6 pieces and consumed in 6 bites. The sesame chicken was very tasty with lots of chunky chicken pieces. The chicken was over cooked and dry. The total of our meal came to $87.49 before tip. I felt the meal, and beverages were overpriced for the quality, and serving size of the meal. I don't mind paying extra for good quality food and service, but I feel in this case we did not get fair value for our money. We frequent other restaurants and get larger servings, better quality meals , for $20 - $30 cheaper for a comparable dinner. One note about he the atmosphere, was the music was played so loud we had to shout to hear one another, and had difficulty hearing the waitress this was at 6PM not the late evening when you would expect louder music. I would be concern about wait staff and noised induced hearing loss. We won't return, there is better food and value elsewhere.

whomp whooomp!

went to this location on a TUESDAY night...there were double the tables empty then taken. it was more than obvious that the servers had friends at other tables as it took forever to place our order, receive it, get out bill and then have the waitress come back over so we could actually pay it. We had informed them when we got there that we were trying to make a movie(we got there almost 2 hours before it was due to start-we never made it) the food was really boring which was a disappointment as we'd heard it had improved. we got the spinach, artichoke and goat cheese dip--i know! it SOUNDS amazing! unfortunately it was basically tasteless. it was one of the most BLAND things i've ever eaten! such a let down! the figgin good burger was ok...nothing special and the buffalo chicken fingers were pretty bland as well considering they were medium. the fries were probably the best part and they tasted like Mcain fries from the freezer. overall a huge disappointment. i have to say i dont think i would go back even if i had a free coupon. the food's just not good enough
