Entrepreneur Jean Gower set up On Stage Dance Wear in 1983 as her children were getting more and more involved in dancing. Not many businesses selling dancewear were available back then, so like all wise small business owners, Jean jumped at the opportunity to fill this niche market.
“It’s been very challenging,” says Jean. “There was a steep learning curve in product ordering; knowing which products are needed by local dance schools, students and children. On top of that, as a small business owner, I’ve needed to learn how to deal with landlords and banks.”
