I visited West with a friend that had been there a couple of times before. The outside of the restaurant was very unassuming. You would have no idea that there was a fantastic restaurant inside. Parking may be an issue as it's a busy streetfront but they did seem to have valet. We sat at the bar and had cesars until our table was ready--made fresh with muddled tomato right in front of our eyes. The food was all amazing both in appearance and taste. REALLY good. You have to remember when going here that this is a wine tasting room, not a place to have dinner. The wine list is imaginative and approachable. The service on a good night is excellent, on a bad night is so-so, but the staff have always been very helpful with the wine choices, pairings, and flight recommendations. Goldies pizza is different then your usual pizza place. It is distinguished by the pizza itself. When you buy a slice (or a whole pizza) you don't end up with a huge bready crust, Goldies is served rustic style... on thin crust. It's seriously the best pizza I have tasted in town. I prefer the mushroom pizza the most. YOu can see all the slices Goldies offers through their display window right off of Pender street, or you can go inside, sit at the bar, and order a beer while you they heat up your slice! I really liked the atmosphere. The owner, Michael, is a classy guy. He treats everyone with respect who walks in the door. They are also becoming more tech savy, and are adding their listings to Foursquare, and twitter. I checked into foursquare at goldies pizza, and got a dollar off their draft beer. Its a nice place! Going along Broadway I have noticed the restaurant many times and finally decided to drop in for brunch to give it a go. We sat outside, we didn't mind waiting for a table there.
