Whether for a coffee-dessert combo or to complete a good meal, it is important to find the right place to fulfill your need for sugar. Here are some places that offer more than a small, dry industrial cupcake and dull scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Bistro B, which rapidly became a go-to place on avenue Cartier, is one of the few restaurants in town to have a pastry chef on staff. Available selections vary depending on the chef’s inspiration but they always feature local products - sometimes unusual ones, like mushrooms.
It is very easy (too easy?) to be a huge fan of the pizza at Nina pizza napolitaine on rue Saint-Anselme. Here, the pizza is cooked in a true Italian wood oven. Imagine the delight when a sweet Nutella treat is made in a similar way. If you are searching for gluten-free treats, know that they also offer a changing selection of gluten-free desserts, which are just as tasty.
We love the lightness of the seasonal desserts offered by this excellent bistro on rue Saint-Jean in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste neighbourhood. Their dishes change with the seasons and feature local products prepared with a French touch.
3rd Avenue in Limoilou has found its flagship restaurant in La Planque. Although the chef has changed recently (Guillaume St-Pierre left and Olivier Godbout, formerly of Le Circle, stepped in), we know that the creativity and quality remain excellent. You must come by to find out what the new chef has in store for you!
Here at Laurie Raphaël on rue Dalhousie, maple cotton candy that foodies cannot do without. You can request it for dessert, but it’s also available at brunch time during maple season, as folks are obsessed with it! The lucky ones may even be able to try at making one for themselves.
