Not every Dad is Ron Swanson; some don’t do the meat thing, and that’s awesome. Whatever his reason – maybe he’s a huge fan of George Stroumboulopoulos and follows anything he does – thank him for being your dad by taking him out for an awesome meal. [Image credit: iStock.com/Lauri Patterson]
Padmanadi has nearly everything (except meat, obvs). The menu is intimidatingly massive, with vegetarian Asian options for everyone. If your old man’s a fan of Kung Pao chicken, awesome. More of a tofu guy? They’ve got it. There’s a comfortable atmosphere and plenty of space, too, so bring your annoying little brother.
If you and Dad are looking for a place to start the day with a sunny, casual atmosphere, check out Café Mosaics, then head out for a stroll down Whyte Avenue. There are plenty of original creations to choose from – you can even get a big-ass vegetarian burger – and they’re all delicious and health- and earth-conscious.
Sundays with dim sum are the best Sundays, so if you’re taking the old man out with the rest of the family, it’s a good call to hit Loma House. It has vegan-friendly dim sum, with all the rolls and buns you could want. Of course, they do every other meal as well, and how – there are fried noodles, appies galore and a daily special, so even your annoying cousin will find something to like.
