December 26th, 2019 We love The Keg and often celebrate special events there. This past Tuesday evening, we had such family celebration and had special requests to make. The staff at The Keg Waterloo not only received us but accommodated us in such a welcoming way that made the event a success! The food was above reproach as per usual but the service, outstanding! Thanks to Austin and Katherine who did made the evening one of excellence!

So my b/f and I stopped here for lunch because it was close to work, when we arrived there weren't many ppl there and the manager seated us. Our waitress asked us if we wanted drinks, we ordered 2 beers and nachos. We then even had a "discussion" about the nachos, and off she went. Returned promptly with our drinks, and assured us she would return shortly. we then ordered our lunch. (2 sandwiches) Then after 40min. And watching her walk back and forth past us to serve the table full of men behind us, we asked for our nachos... She was like, "oh...oh yeah" and off she went, Then she came back about 5min. later later to tell us our lunch was ready but she forgot to order the nachos... So we asked to talk to the manager, then about 2 or 3 min. after after that some guy shows up at our table trying to give my b/f his sandwich. We told the guy, no way we want to talk to the manager and he went away. Then another couple min. Later the manager comes out. We explain what went down, and he offered to pay for our lunch. Well he wasn't into giving us nachos, and our lunchtime was over and we needed to be back at work. So he offered our sandwiches to go, and our bill on him. And since I was starving and I had to get to work I agreed. We then waited an additional 10min. And our useless waitress brought us our "lunch" We didn't get cutlery, thankfully I noticed before we pulled away. The food was cold, and I could walk to the restaurant from my work its so close, its not like we drove across the city. And the portions...hahaha And they put my veggies in a container, then put my sandwich in another...which is fine, but then why would they put my coleslaw all over my sandwich? Anyways never ever ever ever will I go back, and thankfully it was my first time...at least I wasn't like a a die hard fan of the place before this.... Oh and don't ever take the onion rings with you they are not only not worth it but really gross "steamed"

very disappointing

We had not tried the Waterloo location before. Friendly waitress who started off unfortunately by spilling the water all over my companion. The caesar salad was perfection - best we've had in years. The cheesy garlic bread is to die for. Our waitress was not very familiar with menu items, and unable to describe or recommend dishes. We chose the 8oz top sirloin, rare. My steak arrived near medium, with almost no sear at all and not a drop of juice on the plate when cut. It was slightly chewy and lacked flavor. My companion's steak was well seared, flavorful, juicy and cooked rare as ordered. They offered to replace the steak but that would have meant waiting while my companion's meal was already done. Instead they comped a $5.50 beer. Not really satisfactory since we went for the steak and at their prices the Keg is a special occassion visit only (it was her birthday). The veggies were grilled, hard, tasteless and not worth eating. The mushrooms were tiny and resembled little brown rocks, and also were dry and hard. If we go back it will be for the caesar salad and garlic bread. I will never order steak there again. All in all a big disappointment.

Great, realiable steak dinner - Jan 1, 2012

I like the Keg because it is always reliable. It's not great, but pretty good for the price you pay. I've paid a lot more for steak and been pretty disappointed. The steaks are perfectly cooked 99% of the time (tonight they were slightly overdone, but still delicious). I've never had the twice baked potato before, but it was declicious. Standard, good cherry cheesecake. Waitress was a little slow and didn't know what beers they had. All restaurants should always carry Stella Artois on top or in a bottle. Pity. Our neighbours had a misbehaving child, but it was no wonder - given his mother was on her blackberry most of the time, ignoring him. Restaurants like this should think about having a section for people with small children. Still love this place - good, reliable steak joint. The "no reservation" policy Tuesday to Saturday is ridiculous, so go Sunday if the Keg near you takes reservations on Sunday.
