You really can't go wrong with the rib eye and a glass (or three) of wine. great service and a really nice atmosphere.
The service at The Keg was great. We came with a group of 8 (6 adults, 2 kids) and were told we might have to wait 30 minutes for a table, but we were seated within 2 minutes. Drinks were very good, and several of our party commented on the quality of the martinis. The steak was excellent. I have twice ordered the bacon-wrapped bleu cheese filet. Very, very good. I do not say this lightly -- I am a beef farmer, and I am pretty picky about my steak. I ordered it blue rare and got it that way (usually I find my steak to be overcooked in other restaurants). The creme brulee was also very good. I highley recommend it. The others in my party had ribs, steak&lobster combo, and we were all satisfied.
Out of convenience, my girlfriend and I met at Keg today for dinner. I had the asparagus, tomato, onion, mushroom, medium steak ribeye. The meat was thin. I think Keg could provide a slightly larger piece of meat for 10oz. My date ordered the fish , which she confirmed was delicious. The service was good but nothing to look at. I know some kegs have improved the service to include gorgeous ladies. At least, with waitresses like this it helps lower my tip %.
I went all out for this occasion as I managed a date with this young lady from work while wifey was away on a family business. Perfect timing. We needed privacy (well I wanted to make sure..) because I wanted to make sure I don't (we) run into any co workers. That wouldn't do and my young lady came (went) along. The food and wine is VERY exensive but if you can create a right effet for the ladies the night might go places. It was great steak, lotsa wine (more her than me at my insistence) and even dessert. Money was no objetc when the girl looks like my employee. Keg is the perfect romantic ambience and service and guaranteed to impress young ladies demanding class and $$$ and unlike the subrubs this keg's ladies were fine young things in need of checking out
As usual everything at the Keg was incredible. Steaks are so good, the atmosphere and service are impeccable. Simply love this place and will be back hopefully as soon as possible.
We went here for our anniversary dinner prior to seeing a Live Theatre Show also downtown. Our time was very tight. We were seated right away. The waitress took our order quickly. We both ordered caeser salad starters, and prime rib with lobster tail dinners. The caeser salad was delicious with the right amount of dressing. Yum! My meal arrived perfectly cooked (medium) and my husband's prime rib arrived rare as he prefers it. The lobster tails were both cooked perfectly. The dipping butter was on the salty side. The side of creamed garlic potatoes was really yummy (although a bit on the rich side). I loved the decor and the high ceilings. We will definitely go back again. Well worth the price, only wish we had time for dessert..but, as they say...the show must go on!
My BIG BIG issue is the air conditioning on and we haven't even got our summer started....have you guys heard of summer, we are all in a recession and you need to turn the air off or up, tell the suits that the place will close if you don't do the air off thing...i am not a tree hugger at all but i like to wear my summer clothes and not freeze...every one in our group was cold and the next table drank and ate someplace else as it was too cold at you place....come on guys great food no complaints just way way toooooo cold lets get real and if you are saying the servers need it well you have heard this before if you don't have customers the servers are out in the nice weather with no tips and you will be out of a job....be human with the air way too cold
Further to eating at the Keg frequently in Calgary i have been impressed with the South Street Chain downtown. I was in Toronto this week and ate at the York St Keg a couple of times. Although the spinach salad and the twice baked potato I ordered were very good (salad had more blue cheese this time yet only a sprinkle of pecans) I was extremely dissapointed on the Rib eye steak ordered. It was ordered medium rare and came rare. At 18:30 there was not much of a crowd so a little concerned at the order was cooked too quick. More importantly there was significantly more fat on the steak (approximately double the usual amount) on this order. I understand rib eye steaks do come with more marbling, however, this was in excess. My waitress did ask was everything fine and I did mention this, she asked could she do anything about it and I politely declined as I'd started. The service was fine although they were busy.
Almost popped in on a wednesday evening yet the place was packed at 6pm so get a reservation. Thursday 3:30pm not a problem getting a spare space. Waitress was friendly although busy, too busy looks like she needed some assistance. Big plus she was still friendly and professional. Freshly squeezed orange juice had been preprepared, diluted a bit too much with ice. Spinach salad was good, a nice sized proportion, with cranberries, mandarian and roasted pecan nuts. The crumbled blue cheese was a bit sparce yet sufficient. Quite good, yet, been to better kegs, not serious enough points to comment to waitress. Installation and decor up to specification - relaxed atmosphere - good place for after works drinks.
Been here 3 times and always had a great meal and great service. Don't mind paying a few dollars more when its good food and We walk out feeling full. Will be back next time to Toronto for sure.
I ordered the Teryaki Sirloin med-rare........done to perfection. I find this location has never made a mistake on how I would like my steak cooked. My companion ordered the burger and she commented the burger was 1st rate. She had the sweet potato fries & I am sorry I didn't order them with my steak as they are superior to the regular fries. Our server appeared to be fairly new, so things took maybe slightly longer than expected but understandable. Everybody has to learn the craft. For $46 with tip in my humble opinion it is quite reasonable.
This was an experience to see..all the staff walking in a very graceful calm amnner not a fast pace hurry up and eat atmosphere. The manager had a saying look like a swan but paddle like crazy underneath. This resterraunt was pleasing and relasing. The staff did not rush you and you didn't feel rushed. I was inlightened about thier Chicago style steak and it was mouth watering, my fries took more chewing. The staff make it a pleasing place and I would defently go there again.. Please not the map here is showing a wrong place........this resteraunt is downtown near the humming bird centre.
Love this place! Best Keg I've been to anywhere...great Keg sized drinks, always amazing food, great service! GO!

The Keg draws a diverse crowd of business people from office towers in the surrounding area, as well as young city folk seeking out good food, good company and al fresco drinks. The patio is packed during the summertime and the environment is always fun, busy and a great place to meet people. There are plenty of regulars who come for the expertly-prepared steaks, their extensive wine and drink list and the exciting ambiance.
