From the service by Joel..to the mouthwash in the restaurant. My family and the other 2 families that enjoyed our experience will be calling here our favorite place to eat. The food and environment was amazing. We were catered to even with our noisy children that made it quite difficult all was taken great strides! I would highly recommend Joe Badalis for the amazing food, great staff and child friendly environment....great job by all.
Excellent service and atmosphere. The ravioli was the best my wife has ever had, and she has had ravioli on three continents. She raved about it all the way home. Not being a rav guy I have to say I was also impressed. The pasta was cooked al dente and wasn't soggy or hard in any one spot. The Squash filling was wonderful We came over after a trip to the 2011 Car Show. we were seated quickly and the service was fast and polite, but relaxed, with three gentlemen taking care of us. The place was quiet with about 8 other tables occupied. I had the Blue Cheese and Streak salad and was impressed, both with the daring amount of some REALLY stinky (this is good) cheese, and the steak which was cooked perfectly as I had requested it. Portion size was appropriate for the salad. The layout of the place makes me think it will be very loud with a full house, but we are definitely going to be back.
My friend is very picky when it comes to food. She likes pasta and chicken, so we decided to eat here. I was at luck because it happened to be Winterlicious and I was able to order from the Winterlicious menu. My friend enjoyed the cheese tortellini and grilled chicken, while my partner and I enjoyed our meal from the Winterlicious menu. The service was ok, nothing special. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was a mix of dinner restaurant and bar. My friend and I are going to be downtown again soon, and she defintely wants to go back here for lunch.
This use to be the old Armadillos and we use to go there for the wings, but they have done a great job with the inside of the restaurant it is beautiful and we tend to go there for a nice meal during the holidays.
Staff were friendly, food was great.
Our food took so long that we ended up leaving after waiting about an hour. My bf and I wanted to grab some dinner before heading to the symphony tonight, I suggested Badali's on Front St, boy was that a mistake. The place was quite busy, but most restaurants in the theatre district would be at dinner time. We ordered pretty quick, got our drinks, our waitress was nice. We got our appetizer - mozzarella and ricotta fritters, which were small, but very good. Our bf had a house salad with his dinner - he didn't like, it was just lettuce with some sweet dressing that tasted "off" and a few tomatoes thrown in. I didn't get an appetizer since it was so expensive already with what we had ordered. We waited for our main dish, and waited. Got some refills on our drinks, waited for our bread which was supposed to come too. Our waitress told us our food should be out soon. I started noticing that people who were seated after us were getting their food. We waited and waited. We decided that if we didn't get our food soon we would leave. We were both getting pissed off, we called the waitress over and told her that it was taking too long and that we are leaving. I saw her talking to someone who looked like the manager, they were wandering around the kitchen area. He comes over and tells us that our food is here now, a waiter came over with it just then, we told him that we had somewhere to be that and we were leaving, it took too long, an hour to wait on your meal is not acceptable. He said that he didn't know what happened. We asked him how much we owed him and he said not to worry about it. We ended up not paying anything and probably won't be spending any money at Badali's ever again anyway. Not recommended. Service is bad, food is over-expensive and takes waay too long.
As it was my first time to Toronto, I really wanted to find some great restaurants. I didn't know what I was in the mood for and stumbled upon Joe Badali's. I have never had such a great dining experience! The atmosphere is awesome, the waiter was great, and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend it to everyone!!
I went to Badalis five years ago. The first time I went it was with a large party. I noted that it was overpriced and that 50% of the toilets in the bathrooms didn't flush. I went again when the restaurant was mostly empty with a small party. There was no service beyond getting our food (which was no longer warm, it must have been sitting), we flagged down at least three people to try and get more drinks, all of whom promptly forgot what we asked for until our waitress came back asking what we'd like to order for dessert. Again she went missing for the rest of the meal, until after our table was cleared by someone else and she gave us the bill. Lo and behold, the same toilets which still were not quite flushing were there. The only thing new is the ads in the bathroom that make noise. It seems location is the only thing keeping this place running. A very sketchy experience.
I can say this was my worst experience. I should have checked out the washroom first usually a good sign if its clean the food is usually good, four stalls and only 1 was okay to use. Too late I had already ordered. Salad was limp lettuce my daughter's had stale croutons couldn't eat mine waited quite a while for my gingerale after salad came had to ask for bread which was a half a stale bun. When the meal finally came I started with a bite of the veal thought nothing special but when I put the pasta in my mouth I thought I was gonna puke it tasted moldy, I couldn't spit it anywhere and was forced to swallow it couldn't eat anything else then. Called over the manager and he really didn't seem to concerned asked if I wanted anything else of course no all I wanted at this point was to leave had to wait for the bill server brought it said meal was comped but had to pay for drinks not even an apoligy, nada , zippo, so needless to say never goin back will recommend people use caution when going to this place
The Risotto fritters were one of the best appetizers I've ever had. Came with two tasty sauces, pasta sauce(best ever) and garlic. The pizza is by far the best pizza I've ever had. The food was amazing and so was the service.
Food was amazing. Very delicious, hot when served. Waitress was so friendly and extreamly nice. Kept us very happy throughout the whole meal.
The atmosphere was pleasing and servers were on the ball with our drinks. The only issue I had was my daughter's food wasn't served until 5 or so minutes after ours. We sat on the patio and enjoyed our meal in quiet. I would visit again when back in town sometime.
Marginal food served by surly waitress. Pasta was like mush. Mai Tai had to be sent back - un-drinkable. Too many other good spots in the area to go back here
Lovely outdoor patio. Excellent risotto and mozzerella fritters (appetizer) and great pizza. Recommended by me.
Fantastic Italian restaurant on busy Front Street in Toronto. Food was excellent and service was very prompt. For lunch fare, each dish that I've had in the past is almost the perfect size and never too heavy while very flavorful. Beer and wine list is very complementary to an authentic and well-rounded Italian menu. Keep up the good work, Joe!
Joe Badali does not exist. Do not believe the story at the back of the menu. If you go there expecting a large plate of pasta...you will be shocked. If you order a plate of gnocchi you receive about 20 pieces filled with a bunch of peppers. Not a good italian restaurant...taking into consideration that the chef was also chinese. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Usually very good - this time however dinner was very rushed. one course right after another without time to finish. Also found it to be dirtier than previous dinners there. Will go back but not for a while.
