Me to We is a “social enterprise.” Fifty per cent of its profits are donated back, on an annual basis, to its charity partner, Toronto-based Free The Children. The Me to We retail storefront on Carlton Street sells fair-trade goods from around the world (beautiful beaded bracelets, hand-cut leather bags), as well as sweatshop-free t-shirts and books about social issues.
Store coordinator Jasmine White is a bubbly business student with a conscience. She says her job at Me to We makes it “really easy to stay upbeat and inspired.” “I’m not just spending my time working to pay off school,” she says. “I’m actually helping people overseas.”
