Best patio in Kingston! Lovely food. Highest of quality. Amazing martini!
My favourite place to eat and drink in Kingston! Amazing service, very cool housemade cocktails and excellent menus.
Love Chez Piggy and happy to be back from our winter in the south so we can enjoy our favorite restaurant once again.
I have been eating at Chez Piggy for almost 30 years, and it never disappoints. If you're in town for lunch then be sure to get something that comes with the carrot salad. Super garlicky but you won't regret it! My most recent visit was for dinner, and I had the most spectacular scallops. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and my favourite place to sit is downstairs, at the far end of the room, so that you can look back at the bar and the restaurant, and peek out to the patio as well.
A family favourite for 30 years Chez Piggy continues to delight as it evolves while staying true to its roots. I was 6 when I had my first Chez Piggy club and I still love it.
Chez Piggy is OVER PRICED for terrible food and service! The website is very deceiving compared to the actual experience! A $40 plate is enough to feed my six year. When we expressed our concerns to the owner (Zoe) she didn't care and said we could have went somewhere else to eat!
We finally arrived in Kingston and came here for lunch after seeing the Pump House Steam Museum. I was really hungry! The service from Angela was nice and the food was beyond my expectations! A refill on bread and water as we waited for the appetizer. Food came out in a timely order, we did not have to wait long between the appetizer and the main dishes. The Cha Gio (Spring Rolls) were very tasty! My kids liked it! Tastes like something you would get eat at home! Or in my case, when I visit my mom or grandmom's. We should of just ordered one plate to split between me and my husband! The children shared a chicken finger and frites dish. Everything was really tasty! If we ever go again, maybe I'll ask for the frites instead of chips! Big fan of frites (brings back memories of being a kid at my grandma's & at my cousins') Atmosphere and weather were really nice. We decided to sit outside as the music inside was a bit to loud for my taste. It's something to be experienced sitting outside in the courtyard under the patio umbrellas & the kids behaving pretty good. My only quips would be that the Cha Gio was pretty expensive (so tasty, but I would only get this again if I was sharing a main dish with someone), the dinner menu looks quite expensive (so I would probably only come back for lunch), and they don't seem to list a dinner chicken dish.
My wife and I have been huge fans of this wonderful restaurant since the mid eighties. This time we sat out on the patio which is a lovely court yard in the rear of the building. We arrived an hour or so before the shift from lunch to dinner. Our waiter was excellent and didn't have any issue with our request to linger over drinks and appetizers until the dinner menu and brought us a copy of it for our perusal. His service was great even though he was aware we would be staying well past his shift end. Our second waiter picked up just where the first waiter left. Yes two excellent servers. The food was, as is the norm here, excellent. I had a steak which was cooked perfectly to my liking and my wifes duck was delicious. The appetizers( tomato salad and pate) were very tasty and dessert. Another fabulous meal at one of the great resonably priced restaurants in the kingstan/Ottawa area
My family and I recently popped into Chez Piggy for dinner. It was great! Everything was delicious! If you've been searching for the best Tomato Salad in the world, look no further! Sooo Good! The other food items were also tasty and well prepared. The serving staff really looked after our 2 year old well with a high chair, colouring materials and a box of toys. The kitchen even added some veggies to his kids pasta at our request. Easy Peezy. I believe that this is a great restaurant for the whole family. This was not my first visit and it won't be my last.
I decided to bring a friend to this restaurant, based on a recommendation from a co-worker. Service was okay, but the food was difficult to decide on. The bread was very tasty, the oysters were good, but they dropped the ball with the entree. The dish was oddly watery - seemed as if the boiled/steamed asparagus was put onto the plate wet. (The asparagus also did not have flavouring of any kind.) This diluted the orange hollandiase sauce, which was already quite watery. This was probably the worst hollandaise I've had, dilute and not flavourful. The sweet potato hashbrown was more of a rosti, and was a welcome change from the average hashbrown. But the aquatic character of the dish made it unforgivable.
I had heard great things about this place and so decided to check it out on our next visit to Kingston. I must confess that I was so disappointed with the food, the service and of course the price. The only saving grace was the ambiance. To me and my family, it was a case of much hype about nothing.
I heard great things about this restaurant, so I thought I would check it out with friends. The restaurant is very cozy so I was excited. But was I in for a surprise when I took a look at the menu. There were no dishes that sounded good. Maybe the attempt to call fries "frittes" or green beans "haricots verts" sounds like cordon bleu cuisine but the truth is that I could cook these over priced dishes better at home for half of the price. The fries were dry, the sauce was way to sweet and the fish was over cooked. In the end the coziness of the restaurant didn't pay off.
We had heard really good things about this restaurant so we thought we would try it out. We have a baby and a toddler and I have to say that the restaurant was accommodating and helpful. The food on the other hand, was bland at best. The pasta was fresh, but the 2 dishes lacked flavour. Also, the description on the menu mentioned various vegetables (broccoli, red pepper) and when our pastas arrived, it looked like a handi chopper had gone to work and finely diced up a piece of red pepper and a small broccoli floret. We may try it again..maybe it was an off day?
The food was top notch. The server handled our large party with ease. We didn't get the chance to eat on the patio since it was raining, but the inside was cozy and relaxed. A place I always take friends visiting from out of town.
A group of friends and I read about this restaurant and decided to drop in for lunch. Basically the food was good, but we found the the waiter to be abonxious and rude the moment after we had asked for water instead of alcholic drinks. We felt rushed and pressured into deciding quickly, and the woman in our party were often glared at. The food was sub par something i could whipped up at home. The black forrest cake dessert was not to my liking either. The manager(i think) though was attentive to my compliants(thoughmy impression was he wouldnt take any action). This was not the afternoon pleasant lunch we had expected.
I have been to this restaurant a few times and it's always been great. The laid back atmosphere of the patio is great in the summer. In the winter there was a kettle with cinnamon and spices boiling gently on the wood burning fireplace. So nice. The food is always great. The bread is baked every morning. It was nice to know that the tomatoes were grown locally for my salad. I loved how dishes from other countries weren't too "Canadianized". Bold flavors and it's spicy when it's supposed to be. It is a great spot!
I have eaten at this restaurant before with mixed results, mostly positive, however tonight was absolutely terrible. The pork was tender but had a sauce poured over it that was so sweet it was sickening. I couldn't eat it. My wife had Red snapper in rice with a wine sauce. It could have been any type of fish as it was absolutely tasteless, where the wine sauce was is a mystery. The rice had hot peppers mixed in that literally burned her tongue. She barely touched it. The deserts were good but way overpriced. At least we had something we could eat. They also have packed too many tables in too small a space so the wait staff is constantly brushing against you when waiting on tables, A friend was treating us to dinner so I couldn't say what I thought of the meal as I didn't want to embarrass him, but this was definitely my last visit.
Excellent food and service. The pudding cake to die for.
We were told by many that we had to eat at CHEZ PIGGYS and they were right....great location and atmosphere, excellent staff and fabulous food! The food was creative and very flavourful with generous portions. We look forward to returning for the patio. They also were great with children and have a children's menu. Can highly recommend the Lamb cooked in a half squash with couscous!!!!
The spring rolls were quite good, and the frites were ok, but the menu was very limited (with the budget I had) and some of the more expensive dishes didn't seem that appetizing.. Chez piggy is not what it makes itself out to be. But the service was good.
