Flipper's Seafood Restaurant welcomes you to their establishment. They are open after-hours all week and are situated in a surrounding characterized with parks.
My wife and I have gone to Flippers for 25 years and we simply love it there.
We get really well treated. Mostly because we are regulars and are very nice to the staff and we tip extremely well (sometimes 30% of total bill) The meals are exceptional, the service is wonderful and we have often taken people with us, who have become clients of Flippers on their own. When we leave the restaurant we compare notes and my wife and I normally say how wonderful everything was. It is one of our faourites in Ottawa.
The flavours were excellent and the food was well-prepared, but the prices outstripped the quantity. An $11 appetizer should be more than two morsels.
Also, the reviewer by "long time diner" is somewhat correct regarding the service you get if you are "not their type of person."
Trendy posh glebe restaraunt popular with the locals but run by a very poor manager/owner. Do not expect to get treated well unless she decides you are her type of person. Food can be good but is pricey and snobby. Service varies widely, since staff turnover seems high.
not reccomended
At Flipper's you'll find charming maritime decor accompanied by skillful and succulent fish dishes. The mussels in white wine and garlic is a favourite, as well as the New England-style seafood chowder. For a main, try the Marinated Jumbo Shrimp or go for the Seafood Platter and treat yourself to a little bit of everything. There's a $15 corkage fee.
