In the Beginning: There was bush! In 1864, the first settlers came to Haliburton and settled on this piece of land first because of the river. A series of mills were on the site over the years until W.O. Bailey constructed a veneer mill in 1945. His daughter Lois married Wm. (Bill) Emmerson in 1953 and the Emmerson Lumber legacy was started in 1957. The Growing Years: We have complimentary books entitled The Mill Reserve that gives a history of the company. From humble beginnings, the company now employs 36 people and has a Rent-All department. We celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2007 and we had a replica of our first delivery truck on display.
