Service was below average. Food was ok but nothing special. Pizza wouldn’t recommend it.
We have been to this restaurant before and it was a good dining experience. We went again tonight just to be totally disappointed. We ordered something we had before " The lucky goat..." This time was just like Kraft Food. I will not set foot in this place again. Way to expensive for the food they serve.
Golden spoon risotto, made in heaven. Best food I've tasted in years
I'm italian i stay in this place for bussines and when i stay in my home i'm cooking and than the risotto mushrooms is a PERFECT!! wery original italian food perfect taste to the all plate perfect cooking to the rice is my first plate wery same an italian i have eat in america!!!! I'm sure come back, the price is littele bit hight and than when the food is wery good is ok!!! The list of the wine is incredible same a price is little much hight for thr wine.
Been here before and was reminded why I had not gone back. Long story short, I've been here 3 times before, fiance 0, so he wanted to check it out. On my first visit over 6 years ago the food was great, ambiance romantic - last night, bright lights, very loud and must have been bring your kids to dinner night special. The food is not becoming of it's high prices, not a chance, anyone who says it is, has no idea of good food or a good restaurant. The decor is still nice but it is not a fine dining restaurant. Portions are fogetful, the taste even worse. Ordered the Carpaccio, was soaked in oil and the greens that accompanied it could have used some herbs and a little vinaigrette. My pasta, the linguine, did not have any flavour, had to add salt to it, my sauce will put this to shame. The dessert was good, the Tiramisu duet, very light and tasty. At best this restaurant should be advertised as casual and prices brought down to reflect itl. Much better restaurants around to go and spend your money.
Via Allegro was definitely on my list of places to try out in the GTA. Rated fairly high by the critics and good ol' restaurantica guest, with the combination of numerous awards (Most importantly Best Whisky list in the World) made me want to try out this highly praised restaurant. The Good: Service was impeccable from start to finish, very knowledgeable wait staff created top notch service that would not disappoint the most intimate special occasions. Food was phenomenal with the exception of a major hiccup on one of the entrees. Risotto was outstanding but a bit on the rich side to be an entree, I would definitely recommend it as a shared appetizer. A very classy touch of orange sorbet in-between courses to cleanse the pallet was a pleasant surprise. The Bad: My beautiful dry aged NY Strip loin that took time and preparation was a perfect Medium. Sigh..... I had ordered it Rare. The Ugly: The Bill could've definitely been the ugly, but with the removal of the steak and a complimentary $40 glass of scotch made the bill a beautiful thing! Yes, they messed up the Steak however they handled it perfectly. I'm never one to send food back, (really don't like to waste food and don't need extra DNA from kitchen staff added to my meal) but they tried hard to get me to have another steak to no avail. They did take it off the bill and offered me a free scotch! It almost brought a tear to my eye..... sniff... sniff.... Great Place for a special occasion, a bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it!
This restaurant came recommend to us as a Fine Italian Dinning experience. As soon as we walk in the doors we where impressed with the atmosphere and service. Once seated the service continued to impress. Staff was attentive and professional. The wine sommelier visited our table and offered assistance with our wine selection, which was truly incredible. Rated the second largest selection of wine in the world, but that variety comes at a cost $. The menu was very limited offering only 4 pasta dishes and no poultry. Our food lacked flavour and tasted well over salted. I wouldn't normally write off a restaurant with one visit, but in this case the limited menu makes it difficult to want to return, especially at $60/plate.
The wooden oven pizza was delicious and the atmosphere was beautiful. The service was great. The risotto wasn't too good but the tiramisu was pretty good. I find that the food was too pricey for what you received. I think you pay mostly for the atmosphere.
You don't have to go to Toronto to have five star dining. This is a fabulous restaurant. The food and service were first rate. Can't wait to go back
I really want to give this restaurant a good review, but sadly, I can't. My husband and were celebrating our anniversary. The hostess seated us in the far back corner of the restaurant, knowing we celebrating a special occassion. After 10 minutes, we didn't get any menus and we had to go to the front to request them. Another 10 minutes went by before we flagged down a waiter - by the way, the restaurant was only at half capacity. It was only 7pm on a weekday. We didn't get our drinks, just two glasses of room temperture water. When we finally did order, the waiter never returned - not even to refill our water glasses. Twenty five minutes after ordering - we have now been at the restaurant for almost an hour - we still didn't get our meal. After inquiring twice, the waiter showed up with two cold plates. My husband's steak, which he ordered medium, was well done and cold. My gnocchi was cold and gummy. The sauce was cool and there was a film on it. Obviously, it was under the warming lights for a long time. After returning my dish because it was not edible, I complained to the hostess. The resturant did not even offer to reduce our bill or offer a free dessert. Not even an apology! My husband refuses to go back.
Have only been here a couple times but it was a great experience each time. This is a restaurant you go to for special occasions and spend some time enjoying taking it all in. Location is a little odd, but that doesn't mean anything.
Astonished at the prices given the location but I've been in the business and I know what it costs to serve good food so I waited with anticipation. Wine list is substantial - too much so, and no help from the waiter to narrow the field (or hold the darn thing). This theme of inattention continued throughout the meal - fresh ground pepper was offered after everyone was halfway through their main course. Dessert/coffee offered quite some time after main course was cleared - OK for a leisurely dinner perhaps but not for lunch. Ordered the arctic char with sea scallops ($45) - char was hopelessly overcooked as was my dining companion's to the point of severe dryness. Scallops were perfect. Came with veg's and beans -OK but not great and could have sworn the waiter said it came with saffron risotto during his opening pitch. No mention of the price of the specials was made either - pet peeve #1. Normally I would have complained but we were on lunch with co-workers and didn't have time to wait for the AWOL waiter to go through the motions of replacing it. Pet peeve #2 is the waiter picked up the signed credit card slip before we left - perhaps to see if we penalized him for lousy service (we didn't). There are a ton of restaurants in the city that serve better food for 1/2 to 2/3's the price and offer better service and ambience. I recommend you save your money for them.
The wine list is a freaking encyclopedia! and the sommelier was extremely well qualified. This is something everyone has to experience! I have been going to this restaurant for 3 yrs now and will always come back!
Hands down. Food is always good. Service is always good. Beautiful dining room. Only complaint is that they are getting too busy and I have to make a reservation now. The leek and cilantro risotto is creamy smooth and perfectly executed. Trio of lamb is a dream come true with the thought of it making me salivate in anticipation. It does not disappoint. My wife enjoys the duck confit risotto. Rich for my taste but she eats the entire serving. Several exotic meats on the menu that don’t tempt me. I only ate horse in Europe by accident and am not willing to embrace it here. I find the boozy crust on the cheesecake harsh so I stick with the tiramisu. And I do not share it with anyone. I like this place. It is worth the drive for a social night out. 4 stars. Will be back.
Simply the best most relaxing meal I have ever had while dining out. Great food with the largest Malt Whisky list I have ever seen. It is nice to enjoy a Scotch in a fine ding restaurant with real food instead of a pub. The great thing is that I entertained 3 clients who loved it and I didn't break the budget. One of them was avegetarian and there was plenty for him to choose from.
Went for a Friday bunch with co-workers. We had the Sea Bass and Rissotto..... Loved it. Cant wait till our next visit the following weekend with my financeee..,,, I love this resturant.... I couldnt ask for anything more
SIMPLY THE BEST.. Best italian food and best food ever tasted... Such a huge selection and food that takes food to another level. The filot Mignon was the best piece of meat ever tasted. Pasta was omg.... This restaurant put alot fine dinning resturants to shame... I suggest anyone who is looking to spend a romantic dinner with a loved one... to try this out... beware dinner bill will be between $130 to $200.00 per couple but its sssssssssssssssssssooooooo worth it.... Thank you for a lovely dinner via allergo.
Took my family of Five to Via Allegro on Feb 21, 2009. The Food was outstanding again. The Scallops just melt deep in your mouth. The Kids loved the simple but authetic Italian Food. The Head Chef came out to greet everyone.... The staff and service was top notch class. Thank you via allegro for making this memorable expierence,
Fantastic experience!! To all of the owners, well done! This is truly one of the best restaurants in the GTA. If you like food and drink of any kind ...go there! It is not cheap but as most wise people say.."you get what you pay for". This time it is truly a good reason to pay more. Impress your guests and ask for a tour of the wine room...worth the visit!
The best resturant by far. I would name this restaurant at least top 20 or top 10 in North America. Wine Selection is huge, They have over 1000 thousands of wine's to choose from. Food. Well go there. You see for yourself why it is the best. The Chef name is Lino. Has to be one of the best Chef's in the GTA by far. Very talented and the food as clients mention is phenominal. I will never go to any restaurant after visiting via allegro. I plan to attend once a month. Great place to take for a romantic evening or even with the Family. Lino and Via Allegro staff. You truly make food the way its suppose to be... Thank you Thank you. The Lupowich family.

In addition to that they have over 5000 selections of wine, including a stunning array of collections: 100 Mouton Rothschild from 1893, 85 selections from Chateau Latour and almost 1000 just from Tuscany.
