This is advertised as a Thai/Vietnamese restaurant. We have had the Thai food - once. It was not good Thai food. However, the Vietnamese Pho and Bun is very good. Well worth a visit
We were luck enough to find this place through restaurantica and are so very happy we did. This is our absolute favourite restaurant anywhere and it has earned its high rating. We live north of Toronto and happily drive the 1 hour it takes us to get here. I can't recommend specific dishes because absolutely everything is awesome so it just depends on your specific tastes but I guarantee you will be pleased with anything you order...but you must try the curry pumpkin soup and the curried chicken with peanut sauce.
Pomelo wasn't the restaurant we were going to but it was a very happy accident. The food was the best Thai food we've had. We started with the grilled calamari and it had a very subtle flavour that was perfect. We then shared the Basil Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp, and the Red Curry with chicken. they both were amazing. The red curry was a bold and very flavourful dish and the basil pad thai was sublime. We finished off with the fried banana. Really good!!! I highly recommend.
Great place! Food was amazing. the flavours are just exceptional. You gotta check this place out. Servers were friendly and talkative. Food didnt take too long either and it was honestly some of the best thai food i have had! Mmmmmmmm
I can honestly say they have the best Thai food I have ever had! Great pad Thai, rice. It doesn't matter what you order it will taste great! The staff is polite and know when to enter into your dining experience! I can't wait to return!
We went (again!) for lunch. I dream of their Beef Pho: dozens of slices of beef, acres of rice noodles, oceans of veggies and a marvelous Satay Broth for the ridiculously low price of $7. The bowl is filled to overflowing and it ain't easy to finish. The waitress recognized us and said I had lost weight. So (she said) she'd be sure I got fewer noodles and more vegetables. She's a cute gal !!
My boyfriend and I love Pomelo's in Burlington! The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is even better. We go to Pomeo's at least 4 times a year and on special occasions such as our anniversary and birthdays. We love the Thai Dumplings, Deep Fried Won Tons, Hot and Sour Soup,Thai Coconut Soup, and Curry Pumpkin Soup. The best plates are Chicken in Thick Curry Peanut Sauce,Thai Spicy Eggplant, any of their Pad Thai. We love to finish off our meal with mango ice cream.
Love this restaurant! I have had many meals from Pomelo but my favourite is the thai spicy noodle with tofu and vegetables. Excellent! their spring rolls are great and their black bean beef dish is amazing as well! The food is always delicious and fresh, the service is always great! They will do custom orders if you ask and if you become part of their online club they send you birthday coupons and discounts! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, and I will definitely be going back for more!
The food, service and atmosphere at this place are all very good. I was quite surprised at how nice it was on the inside. My group ordered numerous items and we all thought the food was very good with very attentive service. It is a little pricey for Thai food but worth. This has now become my Thai place of choice in Burlington.
We've only ever had take out from here but the food is excellent! Finally somewhere where spicy means spicy, and the tastes are wonderful. Highly recommended to everyone!
It was our first time at Pomelo, and we were not disappointed. The service was quick and attentive. The green curry was one of the best I've had. Food portions were quite large for the price. We'll definitely be back!
I’m going to be completely honest. I never really cared for Thai food. Wasn’t big on my list of cravings and I’ve never been fond of curried dishes. Then one day, a co-worker and I had lunch at Pomelo, and everything changed after that! I can’t get enough of this place!!! Oh, I’ve tried other Thai restaurants to see if maybe my previous opinions were biased, but none can compare. From the fresh spring rolls, to the Curry Pumpkin Soup, from the Ginger Beef, to the Panang Kai, Pomelo is a feast for the senses!!! The atmosphere is very tasteful, the staff are courteous and prompt, and the food is just out of this world! My wife and I now make regular visits to Pomelo. It’s our favourite place to eat in Burlington and I would recommend it to anyone, even those who say they don’t like Thai food.
A friend recommended this place to me, and ever since I've found my way back there on a monthly basis. I wish there was one closer to me, but its worth the drive!
My husband's friend recommended this restaurant to us. The service was great, Ann, the waitress was helpful. She gave us great dishes to try. Some of the dishes were too spicy for my taste, but my husband enjoyed it. It's a quiet restaurant, great for dates, however, the music was unsuited for the atmosphere.
The waitress was quiet and timid, and our order wasn't correct. We were not impressed with the food; I was extremely disappointed with the green curry. It wasn't the worst meal I ever had, but I am doubtful we'll return.
I have been to Pomelo a few times now and it has not disappointed us yet. The atmosphere is quite and intimate which is great for a romantic meal but occasionally you can feel like your in there on your own. The service is impeccable and the food is amazing... Very authentic which suits our taste but if your looking for 'north american thai cuisine' you may be left wanting more. My brother-in-law visited us from England last year and went here 3 times during his visit and got us all eating the Thai Green Curry... He said it is the most authentic he has tasted outside of Thailand which is praise indeed!
I have sat in as well as gotten take out from this restaurant. I LOVE Thai food and have tried every thai restaurant in Burlington as well as all the top rated Thai restaurants in Toronto. I have to say, Pomelo not only has the best staff I have seen at a restaurant in a long time, the food is phenomenal. Some of the pricing seemed a little high to me at first but the serving sizes are enormous; they can easily be shared between two people or are great if you want to take home your leftovers for lunch the next day. The first time I went to Pomelo, I had green curry and my mother had yellow curry. Their green curry is great but the yellow curry here is the best curry I have tried in my entire life--absolutely full of flavor. Their coconut rice, which we ordered with our curries, was the best rice I have ever tried in my entire life. The staff was very friendly and so good at tending to make sure our drinks were always full and that we were happy with our meals. The restaurant does not look like much from outside and is in a little bit of an awkward location but there is lots of parking at the back and the inside has a great ambiance. The second time I ate here, I got take out. I ordered peanut curry, pad thai and thai dumplings--I had never tired thai dumplings nor peanut curry but am SO glad I took the risk. Their pad thai is not exactly what I expected from previous experience ordering from other places but still very good. The peanut curry was so delicious, I don't know what they do to the chicken they put in there but it just melts in your mouth. The thai dumplings were also very tasty and something I will definitely order again. Pomelo is definitely my new go-to restaurant for eat-in or take-out.
I really wanted this to be a fantastic visit, as the reviews for this place were great. I think we may have come on a bad night, as there only seemed to be one waitress working the entire restaurant by herself. My meal of Red Curry was fabulous -- I was so stuffed but was trying to eat it all up. My husband's meal was also excellent, but my children didn't enjoy their food at all, and they are very adventuresome eaters. My daughter's beef and vegetables were so over-tenderized and slimy, she couldn't eat it, and I tried it and couldn't blame her. With regards to the service, the waitress was trying, but she left in the middle of taking our order to sit some people very impromptu and also once we got our food never came back to see how we were doing, we actually had to go hunt her down after we were finished to pay. The great food is worth giving them another try, but I can only hope the service issue was a one-time thing.
My wife and I have been going here since the first day it opened. Between sit down and take out we have eaten there at least over 25 times by now. Every time time the food is excellent and service quick and friendly. Do not let the location fool you, this is the best Thai food you will find in Burlington.
Definitely will come again - food was outstanding - everyone ordered something different and no one was disappointed - fresh, flavourful, beautifully presented - curry pumpkin soup is not to be missed
