    Need to learn customer service skills

    Just went in to purchase twelve cans of Maxwell House coffee on special for $5.99 . A manager type person abruptly informed me as I filled my basket that I would not be allowed to purchase that quantity, and then walked away. I proceeded to the cashier, a patient and mannerly young woman, who paged the manager to ask about my order. Another magement type (I'm assuming) person without a name tag, whose name I was told is G.a.y. came to talk to me. She was also very abrupt and unfriendly with me when I explained that I had seen no quantity limitations on the product signage and just wanted to make my purchase. Well, she proceeded to inform me, that the store policy was clearly printed in their flyer! Clearly, meaning in very small print at the bottom of the last page. She also informed me that they don't need to note quantity restrictions on the store signage, and that I could call their customer service if I had an issue. She grudgingly allowed that I could purchase eight cans not twelve, to which I replied that I would just return and buy my other four. Well, then she would inform all the clerks to refuse to sell them to me! It was so ridiculous! As I had said to G.a.y. if the signage had indicated a limit I would have accepted that and made my subsequent purchase at another location. As it was, this individual had no clue how to find a solution in a kind and customer-centric manner. I was never rude or loud or out of place: I merely stated my case and stood my ground. I do plan to escalate my concerns to the head office and then cut up and throw away my Shoppers credit card. The conclusion was that she was willing to "allow" me to purchase eight cans, take them to my car, and then come back in to buy four more! So silly! Talk about exerting power and control over a paying customer! I did do two separate transactions, but the lovely and empathetic clerk did not make me leave and return to do so! Wow!

    Good Store, Bad Service

    I've been a customer of this store for 4 and a half years. I just came from the store 20 minutes ago. I was just buying a box of chocolate for a family friend for last minute Christmas gift. When we came inside, the security male was staring at us like me and my mother with my daughter had done something wrong already. Imagine, we just came in. We went to the second floor because that is where the Christmas stuff were, and he followed us and kept staring. He never stop staring at us until we actually left the store. It was so degrading and disturbing. Is it because we're Asians? I called the store and the customer service personnel stated that the security was just doing his job. I know that is his job but why only us when there were lots of people in wee hours? After she said that, the lady just hang up on me. So rude... We're not stupid not to notice it. I will never buy in this store ever again. Although it is convenient, I would rather buy from a store half an hour away than to experience something like that again. Pros: Convenient location, 24 hours, cosmetic and pharmacy available Cons: Poor customer service
