Elly and Bob Holowaychuk have seen a lot of changes in their community and in their business, Mills Haven Veterinary Clinic, since they first opened their practice in March 1977. “Sherwood Park has been very supportive of us and we have been supportive of them,” says Elly. “We do as much as we can do in the community, including volunteering and partaking in local events, buying groceries and supplies, and eating at local restaurants.”
The couple's clinic first opened up in a strip mall, but as Sherwood Park grew so did their business. By 2001 they were bursting at the seams. “We started with myself and a receptionist and now have 19 members on staff,” says Elly. The duo found a piece of land close to their original location and built a beautiful new building so Mills Haven Veterinary Clinic could stay in the community Elly loves. “We raised our three children here,” says Elly. “It’s a very close-knit and family-oriented community and we have thoroughly enjoyed that. Sherwood Park is also very dog- and cat-friendly.”
