Under the High Wheel is my absolute favourite breakfast and brunch spot in the city. With both sweet and savoury options, it will please any diner. I order the traditional breakfast with two eggs your way, toast (baked fresh at Bonjour Boulangerie), cranberry maple sausage and hash browns. They also have delicious Belgian waffles with Chantilly cream and berries for those who like a sweet brunch, plus plenty of other options. Be sure to order a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.
The brunch menu changes regularly, due to the kitchen’s dedication to using seasonal, sustainable ingredients from local producers. A sample brunch could include organic, vegan white or buckwheat crepes topped with spinach and feta, vegetables or hazelnut and chocolate. They also serve up bangers and mash, which includes cranberry maple sausage, mashed potatoes and two fried eggs. The sweet Belgian waffles are also a big hit, but they do offer a wide range of sandwiches, too, including burgers, Panini, quesadilla, BLTs and a Croque Monsieur.
A spinach and feta crêpe topped with red pepper sauce - you’ve never had anything so delicious for breakfast (or lunch or dinner). You’ve also got the option to request a vegan buckwheat crêpe.
