Village Brewery’s premium Calgary crafted ales are Albertan through and through, from the ingredients to the company’s involvement with local community organizations, arts groups and charities. “We believe in having fun at the brewery, making great craft beer and being positive contributors to our community,” says Jim Button, one of the craft brewery’s founding partners. “Our slogan, ‘It takes a village to raise a beer,’ is very true to our belief systems.” He adds that the seven founders all wanted to make quality craft beer and be a vital force in the community.
The Village Brewery belief system manifests itself in a number of ways; Village has donated money from the sale of its two-litre growlers to local theatre companies and 10 per cent of overall proceeds go to arts and community groups. The brewery co-organizes Circle the Wagons, an annual mini-festival that sends a convoy of food trucks, musicians and DJs into suburban communities. It also holds fundraisers for a number of arts, cultural and health related initiatives.
