I like the quaintness of this restaurant as it is off the beat and track.. but lately i find that the food has diminished not sure if it is because they have a new chef but i remember the food being quite better historically.
I recently went here for my friend's bday brunch. The food was fantastic - I had the farmers benny. We got to sit on the patio, which was nice, because the inside of the restaurant is very small. The service was wonderful, and the drink selection was quite large. I have also heard they have terrific fondue which I will be trying soon.
Laurier Lounge is a casual French Canadian restaurant that offers a menu celebrating Canada’s mixed French-English heritage. Situated in a heritage home that once belonged to the man who designed the Canadian flag, this restaurant is the best spot (outside of Québec) to enjoy delicious poutine in several styles and the ultimate Calgary destination for the Swiss favourite, fondue. This Canadiana translates well to the cocktail list, where even the mojito incorporates Canuck blueberries.
Lobster poutine. Need I say more? This neighbourhood restaurant in Beltline serves a heaping dish of P.E.I. lobster chunks atop double-blanched fries and Quebec cheese curds covered in lobster gravy. A dreamy dish, it’s available on the lunch and dinner menus on weekdays. I suggest you make stretchy pants and an afternoon nap part of your Laurier-lobster meal plan.
