Chocolate is Brad Churchill’s passion. In fact, when he learned that local chocolatiers weren't actually making their own chocolate, he felt so cheated he decided to get to the centre of it. “I wanted to bring some integrity into the industry,” says Brad, owner of Choklat. “We are the only chocolate maker in Alberta that specializes in chocolate that we make straight from cocoa beans.”
Brad says that making chocolate from scratch “provides a degree of control over the quality of the final product.” After spending plenty of time researching the industry and many days and nights of product testing in his kitchen, Brad unveiled Choklat in 2008. “I make single origin chocolate out of each bean that I bring in,” says Brad. “I roast the cocoa beans, grind them and make them into chocolate.”
